We have been able to reproduce this problem and have tracked it down to the EPSON drivers. If you don't believe us and think it is our software, use Image Capture to select your scanner, choose Use TWAIN Software, and do a scan. Cancel during the scan and you will likely see a crash. We do our best to write software that doesn't crash, however, for scanners we rely on third party scanner drivers that may have issues
