Absolutely! The ScanSnap doesn't use TWAIN compliant drivers which means the Scan feature built into ReceiptWallet and DocumentWallet won't work, but since it generates PDFs, they can easily be put into ReceiptWallet or DocumentWallet. In order to put receipts or documents into ReceiptWallet or DocumentWallet with the ScanSnap software, you will need to configure the ScanSnap software to send the scans to ReceiptWallet or DocumentWallet. This is done with the following steps:
- Open the ScanSnap Manager software
- Make sure the Quick Menu option is unchecked if it is available
- Press and hold the mouse on the ScanSnap icon and choose Settings...
- Click on the Applications tab and then select "Add or Remove..."
- Click "Add..." to bring up the Applications Settings
- Click "Browse..." and then locate your copy of ReceiptWallet or DocumentWallet
- Enter ReceiptWallet or DocumentWallet for the Application Name and then click "OK"
- Click the "Close" button
- Make sure "ReceiptWallet" or "DocumentWallet" is selected under "Application"
- Under the File options tab, make sure the File Format is set to "PDF"
Now when you press the scan button, items you scan in will goto ReceiptWallet or DocumentWallet. You can change this at any time by selecting a different application from the ScanSnap Manager software.
In order to make this process easier, we have created a quick little application you can download that places a little scanner item in the menubar. Instead of telling the ScanSnap software to open ReceiptWallet or DocumentWallet, have it open
ScanHelper. Then in ScanHelper, configure the applications you would like to scan to, such as ReceiptWallet, DocumentWallet, Preview, Adobe Acrobat, etc. Then you can use the menu item to quickly change where the scans go. Please note that this application isn't an unofficial product, but we'd love to hear feedback about it.
